Theme of the conference:
                Public Libraries in the Knowledge Societies” and the sub themes are:
1.       Public Libraries as centres of information, self-education and culture.
2.       Modernization of public libraries in the knowledge societies: Policies and Strategies.
a.       Library automation, Networking, Application of ICTs
b.      Library 2.0, Web 2.0 and social Networking Technologies
3.       Community Information Systems and Services
4.       Public Library Services for the Disadvantaged
5.       Collaboration with Academic and Special libraries and other local organizations
6.       Implication of the recommendations of the knolwedge commission on public library services.
Call for pepers:
                Library and Information Science professionals who are working in public, school, college, university, government and special libraries are invited to contribute papers for presentation at the conference on the above mentioned themes and sub-themes.
                The papers must be types in MS-Word with 1.5 line space and should not exceed 8 pages.  The paper should contain the name of authors, designation, title of the article, abstract, mailing address with telephone number and e-mail address.  Authors can submit a soft copy of their papers by email : 39aplaconf@....
                The papers can also be sent along with the registration fee of Rs. 600/( Retired librarians and students of LIS get a 25% discount on the registration fee)  by cheque/DD drawn in favour of “The Organising Secretary, 39th APLA Conference” to the following Address:

The registration fee covers the conference kit, proceedings, breakfast, lunch, tea/coffee and dinner.
The registration fee does not cover charges for Accommodation.
Accommodation:
                The organisers have made arrangement for a few rooms in the nearby guest houses and hotels.  Accommodation is available on payment on first-cum-first-served basis.  Participants who require hostel/hotel accommodation should apply in advance indicating the number of persons and days of stay.

The TMH library had previously organized two seminars on KRM and thank you very much for the spontaneous and over whelming support to the these events. It is a great pleasure and satisfaction to know that the both these events gave a practical outcome. The summary of these can be viewed on our website. A third seminar in the series is now planned. 

The Tata Memorial Hospital Library and Health Science Library Association of India (HLAI) are jointly organizing a three day seminar on “Knowledge Resource Management (KRM)-2010 on 29th, 30thSept. and 01st Oct 2010, We have invited experts from various fields to get an overview of e- resource management activities in various subjects and service domains.


Theme:         Knowledge Resource Management (KRM) - 2010: Information resources, Services and Practices

KRM-2010 aims at furthering Professional Knowledge about the new e - resources, formats, acquisitions models, and their management, for example Consortia, to discuss the technological applications, administrative and legal issues in order to bridge the gap between what users expect and what they are served.


Date:        29th, 30th Sept. and 01st Oct. 2010.

Venue:         Lecture Hall, Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai.

Audience: Librarians and Knowledge Managers from all types of libraries, Medical informatics, Technologists and End Users.

The seminar would comprise of paper presentations, lectures, and panel discussion sessions to enable interaction, and allow sharing experiences.

The event shall also give opportunity to develop our professional contacts and exchange views and solutions on issues related to e-resources. You are cordially invited to actively participate in the event and submit papers for presentation. The proceedings will be published.
